Volvo Car Corp comes to India with S80 and XC90

Volvo Cars LogoVolvo Car Corporation after setting up their HQ in New Delhi, have recently launched their’s S80 luxury sedan and XC90 SUV in India which are to be sold through three dealerships in New Delhi, Mumbai and Chandigarh. In addition to these two models, the Swedish company which is currently a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, plans to bring in the S40 – an entry level luxury sedan by 2009.

The two cars are available with three engine options, a 2.4-litre diesel, 3.2- & 4.4-litre petrols. The Mumbai ex-showroom prices of S80 is Rs 40 lakhs and the XC90 is priced at Rs 47 lakhs for the diesel versions.

According to Volvo Car Corporation’s President Peter Cornelis the company is expecting to sell 10,000 cars in India by 2010. He said

There is a possibility that we will be able to sell 10,000 units of our cars in the Indian market in view of the growth being witnessed by luxury and premium car segments in the country.

The company plans to expand its dealer network in 2008 to an additional 7-9 cities.
