Wheeeeee!! finally a lifestyle pick-up truck for India, and thats from our very own Indian TATA in the form of Xenon. Sure, there is Mahindra Getaway but this Tata is the closest we can get to a true pickup truck. Although Tata has released Xenon last year for the international market, they only revealed the details about the India launch at the 2008 Auto Expo.
Xenon is the second generation Tata Mobile and it is to be made available in two body trims – Xenon single cab & Xenon crew cab and with a choice 4×2 or 4×4 (with an LSD) drivetrains. The single-cab is called Tata Xenon and Tata Xenon XT (cross terrain) is the double-cab 4×4 version with all the features like power windows, power steering, Air-con, central locking and the lot.
It shares its platform with the Tata Sumo Grande but gets the 3.0l DICOR engine from the older Tata Safari instead of the 2.2 dicor. Xenon pickup with this engine is good for 115 bhp power and 300 Nm torque and is expected to go on sale by the end of 2008 .
I am more curious about the Xenon single-cab and like it better. A simple mod like slapping on some wider rubber and a good set of SUV alloys to go with those wheel-arches would do wonders here.

well about the new upcoming TATA XENON XT .will increasing the standard of pickup trucks for india.the front of the XENON is similar to the another variant of tata safari dicor.which gives it a look of SUV.the “xenon” is lie between the passenger car and and the pick up truck.hope the xenon will open a new path of success for tata in all over world.

TATA Xenon may be lanuch in December 2008. I hope this could be the start of lifestyle pickups for Indian Market. I wish Toyota, Isuzu Mitsubishi and Nissan also lanuch the respective pickup trucks in 1 tonne segment.
It is confirmed, that TATA Xenon 2.2 Dicor , only Double Cab 4×4 and 4×2 version will be launched in Mumbai on 25th Febuary 2009
can i get a quatation for 4by 4 version of the new pick up.
Its a good sign that Indian is finally getting lifestyle trucks, but is it me or does it look like a Tacoma/Hilux from the side, specially the rear door.
And yes oh yes it does need bigger and wider rubber. Those skinny things wont do any good, either for performance or for looks.
More Indians could afford the cars they actually want to buy if Indian gov’t relaxed the ridiculous import duties. Tata, M&M, etc. are the direct beneficiaries of your inability to purchase the quality automobile you really want. Instead, you’ve been forced to wait years driving substandard cars while Tata took their time to design, build, and sell a simple pickup.
I am amazed and astonished.No words,this is the vehicle I wanted to possess.I would be grateful if you could send me the details of variants models along with the prices.Also please mention when they will be launched in India.I am a sculptor and I have been waiting for this kind.

if its anything like the old model then don’t touch it. i Ive never come across such a poor quality truck in my life and its gutless. they are just prone to one thing going after another! im certainly glad i didn’t buy one brand new as id definitely want my money back.

Out of all the 1-ton pick up trucks in Thailand TATA XENOB Super CNG X-tend cab is my favorite.
Why? It’s study, well built with muscular looks. I mean those bulging wheel arches. It’s utilitarian -does not even have a radio. But it drives well. Our model the Hi-Terrain was sweell to drive.The CNG/NGV version might be a bit slower comapred to the petrol version. Once you reach cruising speed 135 kph. It’s hunky dory. All the way
And now the saving CNG/NGV ‘money in the tank (cylinder) not in the tank. Up 70% savings on fuel.
Price: Circa THB 600,000
I see more and more TATA CNG/NGV truck on Bangkok’s streets. No wonder
what you want to do is maybe try refinancing your car loan and see if you can get a lower payment and u want to see if your blue-book value is over what you owe or less because u may be in the negative if so. Good to buy cars with a high resale value like Toyota for example…
