Mahindra Renault says “Arrive in Style” Duh! Like… 10 years ago? Logan is anything but stylish. The design is bland and the car looks dated. Bar the wheel arches, there is not a single curve on the car. Looking at the styling, Renault Logan is a contemporary of Ford Ikon and Maruti Esteem. Good for us the Indian Logan got a new grille, the Logan sold elsewhere has an unnaturally ugly nose.
Renault’s main aim was to make a simple, reliable and affordable value-for-money car meant for the customers in developing countries. Kenneth Melville, head of Logan’s design team says “The Logan is the McDonald’s of cars… Reliable engineering without a lot of electronics, cheap to build and easy to maintain and repair.” Maybe that explains the flat design elements and lack of features like ABS.

On the flip side, with the boxy design & long triangular tail lights its rear end is somewhat appealing with a tight & muscular butt. Look at it from the rear three quarters angle and it brings the Ikon to mind. True to their claim Logan is the widest car (5mm wider than the SX4) in its class.
Being the widest, interior space is massive giving us lots of headroom and legroom. Again the Indian Logan gets a beige colored trim which adds some class and is much better than the dull grey trim of the European version. To cut down the costs, the external left & right mirrors were made identical and the dashboard is a single-piece molded plastic which is very basic and does the job. Column stalks are still configured for the left hand drive.

Three 4-cylinder 8-valve SOHC engine variants are offered for the Renault Logan – two petrols and a diesel.
- The 1.4 petrol puts out 75bhp @ 5500 rpm and 110 Nm torque @ 3000 rpm.
- The 1.6 petrol makes 84.5bhp @ 5500 rpm and torque is at 128 Nm @ 3100 rpm.
- The 1.5 common rail diesel unit puts out 65bhp @ 4000 rpm and 160 Nm torque @ 2000 rpm.

The bullock cart is here guys!!
The Quality of showrooms/service centers and the services rendered are not so good. Imagine no A.C. in their Service center and showroom at G3 motors Malad and the service centre office is in a basement. They even refused to me show their workshop. Can you imagine that the Dealer (Sahil Motors- Andheri West -also known as GMS) from whom I bought my Car in Mumbai closed own in 6 months time without any info. and closed all its contact means. They carried out a shoddy job of anti rust treatment and after their closure Mahindra and other dealers expressed their helplessness in the matter. This dealer took the Cheque for the extended warranty and never remitted the amount to Mahindra and no certificate for the same was issued to me for months. Just to let you know that G3 Motors replaced my Spark Plugs after 10000kms in 1 year where as the Service Book says that they should be replaced after 20000 kms and the Board displayed in G3 motors says that it should be done after 40000 kms. They never gave me my old spark plugs. It just means that the Spark plugs were never replaced but I was merely billed for them by G3, Malad east, Mumbai. No Proper Bill was issued for the repairs work carried out by them. Every time for free service also they charge 100/- to 200/- towards consumables, which in my opinion is not correct. The Staff at G3 motors is highly inexperienced & incompetent.
