The car’s 1.4 litre 16v petrol engine is fitted with a IHI fixed geometry turbocharger that allows it to produce 155 bhp at 5500 rpm and 206 Nm torque at 5000 rpm. This combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox allows the car’s acceleration from 0-100 km/h (0-60 mp) in 8.2 seconds and on to reach a top speed of 208 km/h (129 mph). Several other mechanical modifications have been done to improve the handling. To cope with the increased performance, all four wheels get disc brakes while the front discs are ventilated with Brembo dual-piston calipers. Based on the original Grande Punto’s suspension, the setup has been lowered by 10 mm and the front springs are firmed up by 20%. For safety concerns, ESP comes standard and cannot be turned off - a feature that might disappoint some extreme drivers. However, there is another mode of performance called ‘Sport Boost’, when activated increases the boost pressure pushing the max torque to 230 Nm at 3000 rpm. This also modifies the electric power-assisted steering to give a sportier feel.

Compared to the standard Grande Punto, the track width has been widened by 6 mm with 17-inch alloy wheels and black extensions have been fitted to the wheel arches, bumpers and side skirts to add to its sporty stance. The front bumpers are redesigned with larger air-intakes to cater to the additional cooling requirements of the new engine. Palstic underbody extending to the tapered rear bumper is profiled for better aerodynamics. Blacked out headlamp beam surrounds, red coloured door mirrors and stripes on the sides add to the already aggressive looks.

The customized interiors include a new steering wheel, carbon look centre stack, sportier instrument panel, new sport seats with lumbar and thigh supports to hold the driver while cornering. With red coloures linings and leather stitchings, Abarth’s theme has been integrated all over the interiors.
